Powderham Castle

Powderham, Kenton, Exeter, Devon, EX6 8JQ

Powderham Castle, the family home of the Earl of Devon, sits within a peaceful deer park on the banks of the River Exe, just a short drive from Exeter. Surrounded by open space, woodland and views across the estuary, the estate has been welcoming visitors since 1959 and has over 600 years of history to share.

You can explore the castle at your own pace or join a free guided tour to learn about the Courtenay family and how the house has changed over time. There are two different tours on offer – one focused on the formal state rooms, and another that gives a glimpse into life behind the scenes. The castle tours are relaxed and informative, with something to interest both adults and children.
