Rock View Holiday cottage

Property details

Rock View
Padstow, Cornwall — Sleeps 12 — Dogs welcome

Rock View is a four-storey house on the north side of Padstow, with Camel Estuary views from the open-plan top floor. It sleeps twelve, has a games room on the ground floor, a hot tub, two decked balconies and an enclosed lawn. Ten minutes on foot to the harbour.

Padstow is one of the most practical bases in Cornwall for a dog owner — several beaches within walking distance are open year-round, the passenger ferry to Rock takes dogs, and the Camel Trail starts at the edge of town. For food, the harbour has everything from Rick Stein’s seafood restaurants to the Old Custom House and the Golden Lion, both of which welcome dogs. Trevone Bay is 2.5 miles away, Harlyn Bay 4 miles, and the surf beach at Polzeath 15.5 miles. Port Isaac — Doc Martin and the Fisherman’s Friends — is 15.5 miles up the coast.

Rock View is managed directly by the owner. The link below takes you straight to their website to check availability.

Interior

The ground floor opens into a spacious hallway leading to four bedrooms, a family bathroom, a utility room and the games room — retro arcade machine, table tennis and a large Smart TV. It tends to be where the group ends up in the evenings.

The staircase rises through high ceilings and expansive windows with estuary views coming into focus as you climb. The top floor is open-plan: a fully equipped modern kitchen, a large dining table for gathering the whole group, and deep sofas looking out over the water. Two further bedrooms sit on this level along with a family bathroom housing a freestanding bath and a separate WC.

Six bedrooms in total, sleeping twelve.

Exterior

Two decked balconies — one off the living space, one lower down — both with seating and estuary views. A hot tub. A large enclosed lawn, good for dogs and children with equal enthusiasm.

What to know before you arrive

The closest year-round dog beach is Harbour Cove, 1.5 miles by the coast path — no restrictions, no seasonal rules, wide open sand at low tide. Constantine Bay, three miles west, is open to dogs all year and one of the best surf beaches on the north coast. St George’s Cove, the nearest beach to town, restricts dogs 10am–6pm from 1 July to 31 August — worth knowing before you head down.

The passenger ferry to Rock runs daily year-round except Christmas Day. Dogs travel free. From Rock, Daymer Bay is open to dogs all year — head there in summer rather than Rock Beach or Greenaway Cove, which have all-hours bans from Easter to October.

The Camel Trail runs from the edge of Padstow to Wadebridge — 5.5 flat, traffic-free miles along the old railway line. Walk one way and take the 11A bus back, or hire bikes from Wadebridge for the return. For a shorter walk, the coast path north to Stepper Point and back is four miles with estuary views for most of the route.
