Torre Vean Manor
Porthleven, Cornwall — Sleeps 10 — Dogs welcome
Torre Vean Manor is a Victorian manor house in Porthleven, a short walk from the working harbour and the South West Coast Path. It sleeps ten across five en-suite bedrooms, has a turret landing with a reading nook, a claw-foot bath in the master bedroom, and a large lawned garden with a paved terrace and charcoal BBQ. The kind of house that earns its place in the collection on the interiors alone — the walks are a bonus.
Porthleven has some of the best independent restaurants on the south Cornish coast. The Ship Inn and the Atlantic Inn both welcome dogs. East beach is open to dogs year-round beyond the Blue Buoy steps. The Penrose Estate — 17 miles of National Trust paths around Cornwall’s largest freshwater lake — is walkable from the village. St Michael’s Mount at Marazion is 8.3 miles away. Kynance Cove on the Lizard Peninsula is 14.2 miles.
Torre Vean is managed directly by the owner. The link below takes you straight to their website to check availability.
The Victorian front door opens into a generous entrance hall — slate tile floor, underfloor heating, the original proportions of the house immediately apparent. To one side, a study overlooks the garden with an exposed granite chimney breast and a desk; to the other, a sitting room with a bay window and enough calm to make a game of chess feel like a reasonable way to spend an afternoon.
The living and dining room is the main gathering space — open to the kitchen, with a large wooden dining table and a Smart TV. The kitchen has a Rangemaster cooker, granite worktops and a central island with three stools. A utility room and cloakroom sit just off the back. It’s a house designed for a group of people who actually want to spend time together.
The split-level staircase leads to a turret landing with a built-in reading nook — one of those details that makes a house memorable. The master bedroom has a super-king bed, a distant sea view, a claw-foot bath positioned in the room itself and a separate en-suite shower room. Three further king-size bedrooms each have en-suite shower rooms. The twin bedroom has its own en-suite too. One of the king rooms has a spiral staircase to a lookout room above — coastal views stretching past the village rooftops and out toward the sea.
The paved terrace has garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ. Beyond it, a large lawn — space for children to run, for dogs to investigate, and for adults to sit with a drink and do nothing in particular. Private parking on site.
