What to know before you arrive

Carbis Bay beach restricts dogs from 15 May to 30 September, 10am–6pm. St Ives is two miles west by road or along the coast path. Bamaluz Beach in St Ives is open to dogs all year. Porthkidney Sands, at the far eastern end of St Ives Bay near Lelant, is also open to dogs all year and is accessible on foot from the Lelant station stop on the Bay Line — a good one-way walk with the train back. Hayle beach is four miles east, with Mexico Towans open to dogs year-round.

The coast path from Carbis Bay west to St Ives takes about 40 minutes on foot, passing Porthminster Beach on the way into town. East from Carbis Bay the path continues toward Lelant and Hayle — around five miles to Hayle with the train back making it a straightforward one-way walk.
