Property details

Seascape
Porth, near Newquay, Cornwall — Sleeps 4 — Dogs welcome

Seascape is a two-storey property in the village of Porth, a mile and a half from Newquay and a short walk from Porth beach. It’s built for the view — an inverted layout with the living space on the upper floor, floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening onto a balcony and the kind of sunset that gives you a reason to be up there with a drink in hand. The enclosed garden is on the ground floor, accessed from the master bedroom. Fistral beach, open to dogs all year, is two miles. The South West Coast Path runs directly past the village. Two dogs welcome.

Newquay is 1.5 miles — restaurants, pubs and the harbour. Padstow is 13 miles north along the coast. The Eden Project is 17 miles inland. Watergate Bay, one of the longest and most open beaches on the north Cornish coast, is 1.4 miles south.

Seascape is managed directly by the owner. The link below takes you straight to their website to check availability.

Interior

The ground floor opens into a calm, well-finished interior. The first bedroom has zip-and-link beds, set up as a twin or king-size to suit the group. A contemporary bathroom with a rainfall shower over the bath sits alongside. At the back of the ground floor, the master bedroom has a king-size bed, an en-suite shower room and full-length glass sliding doors opening directly onto the enclosed garden.

Upstairs, the open-plan living and kitchen area runs across the full width of the house. Comfortable seating, a Smart TV and floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors that open onto the balcony. The kitchen and dining area are well-equipped for cooking in properly.

Two dogs welcome.

Exterior

A balcony with seating off the upper living space — the main event for evenings. An enclosed private garden at ground level, accessed from the master bedroom or via a separate door.

Porth and Newquay

Porth beach restricts dogs between 1 July and 31 August, 10am–6pm. Outside those hours and outside those months, dogs are welcome on a sheltered, narrow beach flanked by headlands on both sides — calmer than the bigger bays and better for paddleboarding and swimming than surfing. At low tide the sand opens into rock pools, and the narrow footbridge to Porth Island gives access to Trevelgue Head, an Iron Age promontory fort with views back across Newquay Bay. The Mermaid pub is directly across the road from the beach and welcomes dogs.

Fistral beach, two miles south, has no dog restrictions at any time — 750 metres of sand open all year. Watergate Bay, 1.4 miles north, is also open to dogs all year and at low tide has around two miles of sand running beneath high cliffs. Mawgan Porth, three miles north, is unrestricted and has the Merrymoor Inn for a post-walk drink.

The South West Coast Path runs directly through Porth. Head north toward Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth, or south toward the Pentire Headland and Fistral. The Pentire loop — out along the cliff to Pentire Point and back around via the Gannel Estuary — is around four miles and one of the better half-day walks in the area.

Which beaches near Porth are open to dogs year-round?

Fistral beach has no seasonal restrictions at any time. Watergate Bay is open to dogs all year. Mawgan Porth, three miles north, is also unrestricted. Porth beach itself restricts dogs from 1 July to 31 August, 10am–6pm — outside those hours it is fully open.

Porth is a small village that sits separately from Newquay — quieter, less crowded, with its own beach and pub. Newquay is 1.5 miles away for restaurants, the harbour and Fistral beach.
