Pecorama

Underleys, Beer, Beer, Devon EX12 3NA

High on the hillside above the fishing village of Beer, Pecorama is one of Devon’s most popular family attractions. Best known as the home of the famous PECO Model Railway Exhibition and the Beer Heights Light Railway, it’s a must-visit for train lovers of all ages.

Inside the Exhibition Hall, you’ll find beautifully detailed model railway layouts in a variety of gauges, with interactive push-button controls so children can have fun operating the trains themselves. Outdoors, a fleet of miniature steam trains offer rides on a mile-long track that winds through the grounds, crossing bridges,  and winding its way through a long, dark tunnel.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the outdoor areas.

More Details

A ride on the railway gives you a wonderful overview of the Pecorama gardens, with sweeping views across Lyme Bay, but much of the beauty of Pecorama is best explored on foot.

In the centre of the attraction is the Millennium Celebration Garden, made up of five unique garden “rooms”: the Sun, Moon, Rainbow, Roof and Moat Gardens. Each has its own distinct character, with colourful planting, intricate stonework and tranquil water features connecting them via a network of pathways.

For younger visitors, there’s plenty of space to play. The ‘Wildway’ area features a pond, bug hotel, zipwire, and woodland walk, ideal for exploring in any season, plus four outdoor play areas where children can let off steam while adults enjoy refreshments from one of the on-site kiosks.

Open from Easter through to the end of October (Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–4pm), Pecorama is a brilliant day out for families visiting Devon. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the outdoor areas, making it a great dog-friendly destination too.
