Most of us, after a difficult month, don't really know where we want to go. We just know we want to feel something different. Quiet. Wild. Warm. The big platforms ask the wrong question first — where? — and send you down hours of filtering before you've worked out what you need.
Poochouse exists to ask a better question: how do you want to feel? Tell us — Wild and weather-beaten, or Cosy and deeply still — alongside a few details about your dog and your dates, and we'll send back a single handpicked retreat we believe is right for you. Not ten options. One good one.
We started Poochouse as a curated guide to dog-friendly UK cottages, and we've spent that time learning — slowly, with care — what makes one stay genuinely good and another merely tolerable. We've talked to a lot of dog owners. We've stayed in a lot of cottages. We've found that the people who write to us most often aren't asking for more options. They're asking for fewer, better ones.
So we changed how Poochouse works. Quieter, slower, more considered. A single recommendation, sent within 48 hours.
A single right answer is more useful than a hundred almost-right ones. We don't add properties to the collection because they applied. We add them because we'd send a friend there.
It's a hundred small details — the enclosed garden, the floor a muddy dog can navigate, whether the owner left a welcome treat by the door. Most listing sites notice none of them. We look for all of them.
