A house with views over the Jurassic Coast.

Ten sleeps, four bedrooms, a games room, a balcony suite, and the Golden Cap cliffs on the horizon.

The Bridport House sits at the end of a private road on the outskirts of Bridport, with distant views across to the Jurassic Coast. It sleeps ten in four bedrooms — a master suite with balcony and sea views on the upper floor, two king-size rooms and a bunk room with double lower bunk at ground level — with a utility room, a WC, and a games room fitted with table football at the same level.

Bridport itself is one of Dorset's most appealing market towns — known for its independent shops, vintage scene, and regular markets. West Bay is four miles away, with its working harbour and those immediately recognisable amber cliffs. The South West Coast Path runs along the clifftop and connects to Burton Bradstock and Lyme Regis in either direction. Two dogs are welcome.

Interior +

The entrance hall leads to a utility room and a separate WC — useful for dogs and boots. The main living space is at the rear: a kitchen-diner with bi-fold doors opening to the view, a central island, and seating for ten at the dining table. The lounge faces the front with large south-facing windows and a Smart TV.

At ground floor level: a bunk room (the lower bunk is a double; top bunk suitable for children), a king-size and super-king-size zip-and-link room, both with en-suite shower rooms. The games room — Smart TV, table football — doubles as an indoor games space. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a balcony, a dressing area, a freestanding bath, and twin basins in the en-suite.

Exterior +

Bi-fold doors open onto a raised front patio — south-facing, with the Jurassic Coast views and seating for dining outside. A gravel path at the rear leads up to a separate garden games room with a full-size pool table, dartboard and TV.

Private parking is available at the property. The sloping path from parking to front door is worth knowing about if travelling with older dogs or young children.

The Bridport House

A short guide to Bridport and the West Dorset coast.

Bridport is a market town with genuine character — independent shops, a strong arts scene, regular markets, and a food culture that punches above its size. The weekly market on Saturdays in the main street is worth arranging a morning around. The town is also the gateway to West Dorset's coast, which is some of the most dramatic in England.

West Bay is four miles south — a small working harbour backed by those extraordinary golden cliffs (familiar to anyone who has watched Broadchurch, which was filmed here). The beach is shingle but swimmable, and dogs are welcome on the western end. The South West Coast Path runs along the clifftop above the harbour and west toward Burton Bradstock — one of the better short walks in Dorset.

Heading east from West Bay, the coast path follows the clifftops toward Chesil Beach, Portland, and eventually Weymouth. Heading west, it curves toward Golden Cap — the highest point on the south coast — and on toward Charmouth and Lyme Regis. Both directions are dog-friendly and genuinely beautiful.

Lyme Regis is sixteen miles west and worth a day trip: fossil beaches, the Cobb harbour, a good selection of shops and restaurants. Dorchester is a similar distance inland, with the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Centre for context on the geology underfoot.
