A reverse-level cottage with a balcony for sunsets.

Two bedrooms, an enclosed garden, the beach a stone's throw away.

The Newquay Apartment is a two-storey reverse-level cottage in Porth, a small seaside village just outside Newquay. Four people, two bedrooms, two bathrooms. The upstairs lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors onto a balcony for sunsets; downstairs the master bedroom opens directly onto the enclosed garden. Porth Beach — golden sand, considered one of the safest beaches in the area — is a stone's throw away.

Newquay is 1.5 miles for restaurants and pubs by day and a livelier scene at night. The South West Coast Path runs from the door, opening up the dramatic Cornish coves either side. Beyond, the historic port of Padstow is 13 miles, the Eden Project 17 miles, St Ives 33 miles for a day's drive south.

Interior+

Entry is on the ground floor. Immediately to the right, a flexible zip-and-link bedroom (twin or king on request). The contemporary bathroom is next, with a rain shower over the bath. To the rear of the property, the master bedroom — king-size, with an en-suite shower room and full-length glass sliding doors that open directly onto the enclosed garden. A separate door from the hallway also opens to the garden so that everyone in the house has access without going through the bedroom.

The staircase leads up to the spacious open-plan lounge-kitchen-diner. Floor-to-ceiling windows on the seaward side, a large Smart TV in the lounge area, and sliding doors out to the balcony — the right place to be at sunset. The kitchen is well equipped, with the dining area set to take in the views.

Exterior+

The balcony is the upstairs outdoor space — seating, the views, the place for evening drinks. The enclosed garden at ground level is private — the kind of contained space that works for a dog who needs somewhere to be without full off-lead freedom. Garden furniture for outdoor meals.

A short guide to Porth, Newquay and the north Cornish coast.

Porth Beach is small and well-known among locals as one of the safer beaches in the area — calm enough for paddling at low tide, with rock pools at the edges. Dogs are welcome outside the seasonal restriction; check current dates before booking if you're travelling between Easter and October.

Newquay's town centre is 1.5 miles. A wide range of pubs, restaurants and shops, with Fistral Beach the famous surfing beach a little further round the headland. For day trips, Padstow is 13 miles north — Stein country, with the harbour, the bakery and the foodie reputation. The Eden Project is 17 miles inland.

For walks, the South West Coast Path runs from the door. Heading north, you reach Watergate Bay (3 miles) — the kind of long, dramatic Cornish beach that gives a dog room to think. Heading south, the cliffs become the wilder, emptier stretches around Newquay.

The cottage suits two people and a dog, or two adults and two children — small parties who want sea views and a balcony for evenings without the upkeep of a big house.
