Our Pick Of

Luxury Dog Friendly Cottages in Cornwall

Cornwall has more than 400 miles of coastline — most of it walkable on the South West Coast Path — and a higher proportion of year-round dog-friendly beaches than anywhere else on England’s south coast.

The practical upshot is that you can plan a full week in Cornwall without once leaving a dog in the car or booking a dog-sitter for the afternoon. Beaches open to dogs year-round. Pubs that are used to muddy paws arriving at the door. Cafes with water bowls on the step. That’s not guaranteed everywhere in the UK.

How We Select Our Cottages: We look at which rooms dogs can access, what the nearest year-round beach is, whether there’s a secure garden, and whether the property is close enough to walks to make mornings easy.

Torre Vean Manor in Porthleven near the harbour

Torre Vean Manor is a Victorian manor house in Porthleven, a short walk from the working harbour and the South West Coast Path. Five en-suite bedrooms, a turret landing with a reading nook, a claw-foot bath in the master bedroom and a large lawned garden. Dogs welcome. Sleeps 10.

Rock view cottage near Padstow

Rock View sits above the Camel Estuary, ten minutes on foot from Padstow harbour. Six bedrooms, estuary views from the open-plan top floor, a games room and a hot tub. The Camel Trail starts at the edge of town — 5.5 flat miles to Wadebridge. Harbour Cove, the nearest year-round dog beach, is 1.5 miles by the coast path. Sleeps 12.

The Lobster Pot near St Ives

The Lobster Pot sits on Hayle Wharf, harbour views from every floor, three miles of beach a short walk away. The Times named it the best beach in the UK in 2024. Three floors, a four-poster master bedroom with a private balcony, bi-folding doors onto a harbour-view terrace and a private mooring. Sleeps 6.

Lilyville Cottage near Whitsand bay

Lilyville sleeps two in south-east Cornwall, close to the Whitsand Bay coastline. Slate floors, beamed ceilings, a roll-top bath and a wood burner inside. An enclosed garden and private hot tub outside. Looe and Polperro within 11 miles. Two dogs welcome.

Comrie cottage with hot tub near bude

Comrie sleeps eight in the centre of Bude, a short walk from Summerleaze Beach and the South West Coast Path. Four individually styled bedrooms — a super-king with en-suite, a king, a twin and a bunk room. Open-plan living with bi-fold doors onto an enclosed patio, a separate snug, a wood burner and a private hot tub. There’s a utility room with a shower for sandy paws after a beach day. Up to three dogs welcome.

BOOKING TIPS

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Cornwall’s beach access rules are seasonal and vary beach by beach. Most restrictions apply between May and September, typically 10am–6pm. The practical upshot is that there is almost always a year-round dog beach within easy reach.

The two things worth checking before any Cornwall booking: the nearest year-round dog beach to the property, and whether the property has a secure garden. On a wet October evening, a secure garden is worth more than the best beach in the county.
