A three-storey townhouse with a working woodburner.

Four bedrooms, a raised walled garden, three St Ives beaches within half a mile.

The St Ives Cottage is a three-storey period home in an elevated position above the town, beautifully renovated to marry period architecture with contemporary comfort. Eight people, four bedrooms, four bathrooms. A woodburner in the lounge for cool evenings, a chef's kitchen with skylights and a central island, and a raised walled garden for fresh air with privacy from the streets below.

The location is the rare St Ives find — close enough to walk to the harbour and the beaches, but elevated enough to feel like a retreat rather than a holiday flat. Porthminster, Porthmeor and Bamaluz beaches are all within half a mile. The Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden are the same distance. The South West Coast Path runs in both directions; Clodgy Point, with its sweeping coastal vistas, is just over a mile.

Interior+

Entry is on the ground floor, into rooms with chic neutral décor and a calm, quietly luxurious ambience. Turn right for the sitting room — sizeable sofa, Smart TV, and the woodburner that becomes the centre of evenings. Through here, the open-plan kitchen-diner with skylight windows pulls light down from above. Charcoal units, light worktops, a large central island, high-specification appliances. The garden is accessed from this floor.

The first floor has two bedrooms — a double with en-suite shower room, and a super-king with a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom (freestanding bath plus a separate shower). The second floor adds a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room, plus another king-size and the family bathroom.

Exterior+

The garden is raised and walled — accessed via steps up from the kitchen — with privacy from the streets below. A sun trap. Garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ for grilling whatever fresh Cornish seafood you've sourced from the harbour that day. The far-reaching views are quietly impressive for a townhouse garden.

Two parking permits are provided for a car park in close proximity to the property — vehicle registration numbers required before arrival.

A short guide to St Ives, the beaches and the coast.

St Ives has three central beaches and they each do something different. Porthminster is the sheltered family beach, calm waters and a famous café. Porthmeor faces the Atlantic — surf school territory. Bamaluz is the small, pebbly cove between the harbour and Porthmeor. All three are within half a mile. Dog rules vary by season; check current dates before booking if you're travelling in summer.

The Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden are the cultural anchors — quietly remarkable in a small Cornish town. The harbour is the social heart, with cafés, restaurants and galleries radiating out from it. In summer it's busy; outside July and August the place breathes again.

For walking, the South West Coast Path runs in both directions from St Ives. East takes you toward The Carbis Bay Garden House (a lovely two-mile clifftop walk); west toward Clodgy Point and the wilder, emptier coast.

Worth knowing about the dog: this is a townhouse in a busy seaside town, not a remote retreat. Better suited to dogs who are comfortable with people and other dogs in close quarters than ones that need quiet.
